1 ­ D.  Four-year undergraduate and graduate participants:

 

A total of 12 CSUS College undergraduate students and one graduate student served 41 - 1st- 6th students in the CSUS- UC Links programs during the 2005-2006 academic year.  These undergraduates and graduate provided the services listed under #3 above.  Of the 12, four were Latino, two were Indian and four were African American.  Eight participated through a CSUS course designed for service learning.  Four of these students also received America Reads financial through the CSUS College of Education.

 

2. Participating Schools:

 

The CSUS- UC Links services to children were provided at Deterding Elementary School in Carmichael, CA, 95608.  These include the services listed in #3 as ³tutoring/homework assistance,² ³academic enrichment/supplemental learning², and ³mentoring². This schoolıs population represents a bi-modal distribution of SES.  One group of students came from a low- to very low SES while the other from middle SES background.  The participants in the after-school club were drawn from both backgrounds but with greater representation of the low SES backgrounds (~75%).
